August 17 Illinois

We made 225 miles today. Through Kentucky and into Illinois. At the Illinois welcome center on I-57, we were given eclipse glasses to replace the ones that Amazon said might blind us.  The Benton, Illinois KOA, like the one in Tennessee, had huge pull-through sites. I was happy to find that we did not have to disconnect the Chevy Colorado truck that we are  towing behind the RV.

Interesting tidbit: We are familiar with cypress trees and cypress “knees” in the Southeast. We did not expect to see them in Benton, Illinois.

  1. It’s always a plus when you don’t have to disconnect for the night. That’s a nice reward especially when you’ve been on the road most of the day.

  2. We got some of those glasses from Amazon too. We then went out and got some more but I think I like the ones from Amazon better. That rig must be the best looking one in the KOA.
